Self-Care isn't just about pampering yourself on your days off. Essentially, we practice self-care every day but in the most minute ways possible, through personal hygiene and grooming. So what is Self-Care really about?

Self-Care is Multidimensional Wellness. It is the act of intentionally, spending time on cultivating the different aspects of our being. Universally, these are the 7 categories of Self-Care: Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, Mental/Cognitive, Social, Practical, and Sensory.

Spiritual Self-Care nurtures the spirit and meaning/purpose. It can include meditation, spending time in nature, prayer, or connecting with personal values.

Emotional Self-Care helps you process and manage your feelings in a healthy manner, such as journaling, practicing self-compassion, and setting and keeping boundaries.

Physical Self-Care, of course, it when we nurture our soil bodies, through rest/recovery, eating nourishing foods, movements and keeping our bodies in shape.

Mental or Cognitive Self-Care is practiced when we engage our minds, foster cognitive health, and cultivate a healthy mindset through reading, learning, or doing world puzzles.

Social Self-Care is when you build and nurture meaningful and supportive relationships. Spending time with family/friends, having meaningful conversations with loved ones, and communicating needs or boundaries, are all acts of social self-care.

Practical Self-Care is like preventative health practices. These task prevent future stress and improve your life's stability. These are things like, budgeting, cleaning, organizing, career and family planning, installing cameras around your home.

Sensory Self-Care is a practice that focuses on calming the nervous system by calming the five primary senses. This means creating a visually beautiful and calming environment, pleasing to the sight, managing noise pollution or listen to certain frequencies. Lighting scented candles or incense. Having a cup of herbal tea or a piece of chocolate.

Of course, the best way to explore Self-Care & document the journey is through journaling. I am excited about the Self-Care Journaling Series, during which we will cultivate self-care throughout these 7 categories. Next time, we'll focus specifically on journal types and formats. This series is Free to You, so Join me inside, A Cultivator's Journaling Journey!
